چکیده

This paper considers the performance and design of a reduced complexity iterative equalizer, for a system including a rate one recursive channel precoder. Recursive channel precoders have been shown to yield significant performance gains, in wireless communication systems, if designed correctly. Extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts are used to predict system performance and as a configuration design tool, to determine powerful precoder and detector parameters. Bit error rate (BER) results for BPSK and 8-PSK modulation are presented, to verify the performance predictions of the EXIT chart analysis. Results show that even with large degrees of state reduction, the iterative receiver can achieve significant interleaver gain, associated with the inclusion of the recursive precoder.

Precoded Turbo Equalizer for Power Line Communication Systems

Power line communication continues to draw increasing interest by promising a wide range of applications including cost-free last-mile communication solution. However, signal transmitted through the power lines deteriorates badly due to the presence of severe inter-symbol interference (ISI) and harsh random pulse noise. This work proposes a new precoded turbo equalization scheme specifically de...

Reduced State Iterative MAP Equalization and Decoding in Wireless Mobile Coded OFDM

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system suffers extra performance degradation in fast fading channels due to intercarrier interference (ICI). Combining frequency domain equalization and bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM), the iterative receiver is able to harvest both temporal and frequency diversity. Realizing the fact that ICI energy is clustered in adjacent subcarriers,...

A BCJR-DFE Based Receiver for Achieving Near Capacity Performance on Inter Symbol Interference Channels

A non-iterative receiver is proposed to achieve near capacity performance on inter-symbol interference channels. There are two main ingredients in the proposed design i) the use of a BCJR-DFE equalizer which produces optimal soft estimates of the inputs to the ISI channel given all the observations from the channel and L past symbols exactly, where L is the memory in the ISI channel. ii) The us...

Reduced-Complexity MAP Equalizer for Dispersive Channels

We present a computationally efficient soft-output equalizer for communication over dispersive channels. The proposed equalizer has a forward and backward recursion structure similar to the classic BCJR MAP algorithm, but its complexity is reduced by constructing a reduced-state trellis, as in the decision feedback sequence estimator (DFSE). We are able to achieve consistent state definitions b...

Factor-Graph-Based Soft Self-Iterative Equalizer for Multipath Channels

We consider factor-graph-based soft self-iterative equalization in wireless multipath channels. Since factor graphs are able to characterize multipath channels to per-path level, the corresponding soft self-iterative equalizer possesses reduced computational complexity in sparse multipath channels. The performance of the considered self-iterative equalizer is analyzed in both single-antenna and...
